Carter's Room

Over my 2 week Christmas break I took advantage of my time off and got as much done in Carter's room as I could! These are a few pictures of the crafts I made and what I did :)

Mommy's Little Boy :)

20 week Ultrasound....can't wait to meet you, Carter Allen!!!

Yesterday felt like a DREAM! I had to go to work and wait all day (well, it felt like all day) because my appt. was not until 2:15. Once we got to the doctor's office we did not go back until 3:00...so I was even more anxious by then! Of course I was SO excited to find out whether we would be having a boy or girl, but I was also very nervous about checking the baby's brain, heart, lungs, etc. for any defects or issues with the development. So there were a lot of mixed emotions/feelings going on! As soon as I sat in the chair and we started the ultrasound I could feel my heart pounding!!!!! I was so nervous! As I was watching the screen with the baby on it I could not tell what anything was at all....it looked like a big black and white blob. She started to point out little bones in the arms, legs, and she showed us the brain, the heart beating...it was amazing! I could not grasp the fact that that little angel was inside of me :) Then very casually she said, "Oh it is a girl." No expression at all, she did not even look up from her screen. I looked at Chase and we both looked shocked/confused!!! I have had the strangest feeling (I guess mother's tuition) for the past 1.5 months that I was for sure having a boy! I was in shock! I kept saying, Oh my! Wow! I cannot believe it!" out loud! Then we continue with the ultrasound for another couple of minutes and I hear her say, "Oh wait....this might not be a girl." Chase and I were so confused. We just wanted to know!!! The umbilical cord was RIGHT in between the legs and they were having a hard time identifying the sex of the baby. OF COURSE this would happen to me! The doctor came in and looked for herself and she said she THOUGHT it was a boy but she could not tell for sure....well, WE WANTED TO KNOW FOR SURE! They had me get up and go to the bathroom and jump/wiggle around as I walked to move baby Karl around so we could get a better look. I was literally jumping up and down in the bathroom! As soon as I sat back down the nurse came back in to take another look...she felt SO bad that she had confused us. She said that she had a perfect record and had never been wrong about the sex of the baby and I could tell she felt terrible. She looked again and immediately said, "Oh yeah...this is a BOY!" He was the most precious thing in the world. He had his feet over his head playing with his little toes...it was adorbale! Then, she was trying to get a clear picture of his face for us but he was not cooperating. He had his little arms crossed right over his face like he was hiding from the camera :) We didn't end up getting a good picture of his face but I am more than happy with the pictures we have of him hiding! She printed about 20 pictures for us because she felt so bad! The doctor also let us know that all of the organs and everything else looked normal and healthy....that was great news to relieve my nerves. He currently weighs 12 ounces and is right around 10 inches long. I go back to see my doctor on Tuesday, December 20th and I am very excited to see how he will continue to progress and grow. Only 20 more weeks until I get to hold and kiss and love on my little Carter Allen :) I already love him SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! I ordered his bedding last night and now I will start "Project Nursery"...time to decorate!!!!!

My belly is definitely getting bigger by the week :)

19 weeks!!!

I am 19 weeks and 1 day pregnant in this picture...as you can see, my belly is definitely growing!!! It is still so weird to look at myself in a mirror when I am out in public and see my big belly! I am not used to that at all! Io started feeling a lot better last week during my 18th week and I am still doing good this week. I cannot believe I am already half way there to meeting my precious baby :) I have my 20 week ultrasound on Monday, December 12th to reveal the sex of our baby...I am so anxious and excited AND ready to know!!! I am planning to start decorating the nursery over my 2 week Christmas break, but unfortunately the bedding for the crib will not be here until late January or early February. I am ordering it next week after we find out and it will take about 6-8 weeks to come in...but I can still decorate everything else around the crib :)

2nd Doctor's Appt.

I had my 2nd doctor's appt. on Tuesday, October 25th! All was well with Baby Karl :) The nurse let us listen to the heartbeat again and it was very strong, loud and beating 154 beats/minute! I could listen to that little heartbeat all day :) Then they did blood work and I talked to my doctor about how bad I have been feeling. She said that she felt the same way that I feel when she was pregnant and she had the same issue with not being able to eat and throwing up. I got a new medicine and took it for the first time yesterday....good news is that it did help my food settle...bad news is that it made me feel like I took about 5 tylenol PM's!!! I was DRAGGING my feet at work all day and then went home and went to bed at 6:15....and didn't wake up until my alarm went off the next morning at 5:15 am :) That was MUCH needed rest! But I am not going to be able to take it anymore during the day, only at night because I cannot afford to be so drowsy and tired at work like that anymore :( Ugh!!!

I will be 14 weeks on Monday, October 31st and then only 6 weeks left until we find out if baby Karl is a little Chase or a little ME!!! So excited! The furniture company called us while we were at the doctor on Tuesday and told us that our hutch for the dresser and the crib rails were in! My new rocking chair/glider should also be here this weekend! Then.....on to DECORATING in December! Woo Hoo!!! :)
